The Downtown Yonge B.I.A. is partnered with Raising the Roof. The organization is Canada's only national charity dedicated to long-term solutions to ending homelessness (www.raisingtheroof.org). The mandate aligns with that of Downtown Yonge's. The approach isn't to enable people to live on the streets by providing food and sleeping blankets. Rather, it's a long-term approach that focuses on such things as housing, mental health services, and employment readiness.

Through the Toque Campaign, businesses and individuals are asked to buy toques, with the proceeds going to initiatives to help end homelessness.

We are asking businesses to purchase 10 toques for $100 ($10 each). They make a great winter gift for employee, clients, vendors, friends, and family.

Let's demonstrate downtown Toronto's continued advocacy for ending homelessness through this quick, easy, and highly visible way.

Houselink Families Moving Forward program:
1 toque = One healthy, nutritious meal enjoyed amongst a group of peers at a Community Kitchen or Drop-In location.
10 toques = Provide approximately eight hours of meaningful employment for a Houselink member who will use those skills to rebuild their confidence and regain balance in their life.

St. Christopher's House:
1 toque = one Furniture Bank start up basic necessities like soap, cutlery and pots
10 toques = towards a one month Toronto subway pass, while looking for housing or permanent employment.
